Mahalo for your Solidarity in 2016 and in the difficult days ahead

Saturday, December 24th, 2016

Aloha and Mahalo  friends for your solidarity and support for justice, peace and aloha ‘aina in 2016 and continued dedication in the years ahead, which, no doubt, will involve some difficult days.  But never doubt the importance of such work, and never, ever, give up!  As the philosopher Thomas Carlyle said: “No lie can live forever.”

Annual Christmas Appeal

December 2016

Aloha Friends,

Once a year, I write to ask for your help to sustain the work of Malu ‘Aina for justice, peace and a healthy planet. As an all volunteer organization, with no corporate or government funding, Malu ‘Aina has been planting seeds and sharing food with people in need for the past 36 years.  In all that we do, the spirit of Aloha ‘Aina (Love for the Land) and nonviolence guide us. But we know we can’t do it alone. It takes a movement of people power, commitment, and donations to carry on.  You have been an important part of this effort and we thank you for your solidarity in the journey.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. One of our recent weekly Peace Vigil leaflets sums it up. “Prevent Climate Disaster & Nuclear War,” and stand in solidarity with people struggling for justice and protecting the Sacred in every way possible. In an increasingly militarized and corporate dominated world, it is hard to learn the lesson that we cannot bomb, kill, and exploit our way to justice, peace, and a healthy planet.

Your support and solidarity keep us from being discouraged and remind us that we are stronger together. We pledge to you our commitment to carry on and never give up. Blessings of this holy season to you and your loved ones.

With gratitude and aloha,
Jim Albertini

Let’s overcome the the growing climate of fear and hate, and the holiday message of materialism. Instead, let us hold a light to this Holy season’s spiritual message of loving kindness, peace and good will to all.  Global, AND LOCAL suffering is increasing with on-going wars, poverty, homelessness, and destruction of our environment. May the glow of our candles and our presence serve as testimony that a better way is possible. Let us strengthen our resolve to respect the Sacred, end suffering and dedicate our lives to caring for each other and working for justice, peace, and aloha ‘aina (love for the land), here in Hawaii and around the world.

True Peace Requires Liberty & Justice for All

Tuesday, December 20th, 2016

Celebrate a True Merry Christmas!

Peace With Justice!

magnificat

Text in the image is from the “Magnificat” of  Mary,            Luke 1:46-55

Today, that means “Cast down and send away” the Billionaires, the Generals, the Arms Makers, the Wall St. Bankers, the Climate Change Deniers, etc. !

“The (Magnificat) song of Mary is the oldest Advent hymn. It is the most passionate, most vehement, one might say, most revolutionary Advent hymn ever sung. It is not the gentle, sweet, dreamy Mary that we so often see portrayed in pictures, but the passionate, powerful, proud, enthusiastic Mary, who speaks here. None of the sweet, sugary, or childish tones that we find so often in our Christmas hymns, but a hard, strong, uncompromising song of bringing down rulers from their thrones and humbling the lords of this world…”

German theologian, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was executed by Hitler
