March 1st Remembering Bikini, Marshall Islands

Prevent Nuclear War — Abolish Nuclear Weapons!

March 1st is known at Bikini Day and Nuclear-Free and Independent Pacific Day.  On March 1, 1954 the U.S. exploded a 10 megaton (10 million tons of dynamite equivalent) hydrogen bomb code named Bravo on Bikini atoll in the Marshall Islands.  Overall, hundreds of nuclear weapons have been tested in the Pacific by the U.S. Brittan and France.

The March 1st (monthly 1st working day of the month at 11:45AM) nuclear attack warning siren test has been cancelled in Hawaii, but it is still important to stand in opposition to nuclear weapons and war in solidarity with people all around the Pacific and the world.  There is no defense against nuclear weapons.  The only shelter is peace and the elimination of nuclear weapons worldwide.

People on Hawaii Island are invited to join in a Bikini commemoration in Hilo on March 1st.

End U.S. Addiction to Killing!

The latest school shooting in Parkland, Florida is not unrelated to U.S. ongoing wars in multiple countries and the increasing threat of global nuclear annihilation. The U.S. is a killing society that glamorizes violence and appears to put more value on the right to own an assault weapon than the lives of children.

NO MORE

us

The U.S. empire has become a culture of mass violence that has been building layer upon layer, from the massacres of Native Americans, the killing of unarmed African Americans, to the millions killed in wars for resources disguised as freedom and democracy. Now the chickens are coming home to roost with the killing of our own children. More killing and more weapons of war are put forward as the solution to killing. The U.S. has become a completely militarized society. Look at the size of the U.S. military budget. Look at our militarized police foreces. Look at U.S. gun ownership compared to the rest of the world. Signs of military worship are everywhere – at every sporting event, special discounts at stores, even in places of worship and prayer. All of this reflects a very deep societal mental illness – an addiction to killing.

It’s time that we adults listen to the grieving children of Parkland and the world. They are showing us a way forward. Together, we need to join our voices to stop the killing, at home and abroad. Never underestimate the power of nonviolent action. Draw from movements for social change all over the world. Stand with our youth and give each other encouragement to continue and never give up. That’s how we build a world of justice, peace, and security for all. Stand up and keep standing!

Love One Another!  Aloha Not Hate!

1. Mourn all victims of violence. 2. Reject war as a solution. 3. Defend civil liberties.
4. Oppose all discrimination, anti-Islamic, anti-Semitic, anti-Hawaiian, etc.
5. Seek peace through peaceful means and work for justice in Hawai`i and around the world.

U.S. MEDDLING FOR EMPIRE: FOLLOW THE MONEY!

Tuesday, February 20th, 2018

Meddling for Profits & Empire!

We are living in increasingly corrupt, violent, and dangerous times!

trump

Don’t get too distracted about 13 Russian Facebook trolls indicted on charges of U.S. election meddling. It’s wrong but it’s old hat and over blown. The U.S. has been doing not only election meddling, but covert and overt regime change for over 100 years. The U.S. started meddling in Hawaii in 1820 and carried out regime change and occupation of the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1893 as a stepping stone for the U.S. Empire’s move to Asia. How come no one has ever been indicted for that? And don’t forget, no banker has ever been indicted for the Wall St. crimes and financial collapse of 2008, nor has Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, or anyone in the DOD, CIA, NSA, FBI, DOJ, etc. been indicted for waging blatant Mid East wars of aggression, and committing war crimes, including torture, and crimes against humanity under the disguise of anti-terrorism! Follow the money! The U.S. Empire wants to remain unchallenged as the world’s sole superpower.

According to a Feb. 17, 2018 article in the N.Y. Times, the U.S. has used suitcases of cash, media disinformation, and when necessary military force and assassinations as meddling tools. The article cites both overt and covert election influence operations. 81 by the United States and 36 by the Soviet Union or Russia between 1946 and 2000. More in recent years: remember Saddam Hussein and the non-existent “weapons of mass destruction;” remember Gaddafi in Libya and Obama and Hillary’s bogus humanitarian war that killed Gaddafi and left Libya and other countries in chaos?

And what about Israel meddling in U.S. elections and U.S. domestic and foreign policy? Again, follow the money. According to Mondoweiss, it happens all the time. AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, doesn’t even have to register as a foreign agent because of sleight-of-hand. It’s no secret that Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is pushing Trump toward war with Iran and threatening a wider conflict in Syria and Lebanon. And what about Israel’s efforts in the U.S. to criminalize BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) of Israel for it treatment of Palestinians?

NO MORE WAR!

U.S. Vice President, Mike Pence’s behavior at the opening of the 2018 Olympics went against the good will spirit of the Games. Pence was a stick-in-the-mud bad sport and as a so called “Christian,” betrayed basic Christian principles of love your enemies and good will to all. While the rest of the world stood and applauded North & South Korea participants walking together as a united Korea, Pence sat stonefaced and shamed the U.S.A.

The entire world needs to unite to prevent a catastrophic war on the Korean Penninsula which could engulf the entire world. The Olympic truce needs to be extended indefinitely.

Here is what a nuclear war with Korea would look like. It is a must read.

https://www.vox.com/world/2018/2/7/16974772/north-korea-war-trump-kim-nuclear-weapon

Dialogue, diplomacy, and respect, not provocative war “exercises,” threats of “fire and fury” and “maximum pressure” are the way forward to a permanent peace treaty and the urgent task of abolishing all nuclear weapons worldwide.

IMAGINE!
