Mr. Dominick Orlando, NRC
Aloha Mr. Orlando,
At the May 30th meeting please get answers to the following questions concerning DU used at the Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) and other military sites in Hawaii.

1.  What are the current number of live-rounds fired annually at PTA?  Documents nearly 5 years old say up to 14.8 million live-rounds annually.
2.  Please list all the various weapons used as PTA, live and inert.
3.  What other DU spotting rounds have been used at PTA besides the Davy Crockett DU spotting rounds?
4.  What DU penetrator rounds have been used at PTA?
5.  Has DU been used as ballast or armor in any training at PTA?
6.  Why has the Army failed to follow it’s own regulations including AR 700-48 which requires the Army to follow local government actions such as Hawaii County Council Resolution 639-08 that called for 8 actions by the Army including halting all live-fire at PTA until their is clean up of the DU present there?
7 Where in writing is it stated that the Army is prohibited from using DU in training since 1996?
8.  Lands at PTA are Hawaiian Kingdom Crown and government lands.  By what authority does the military claim lawful jurisdiction over Hawaiian Kingdom lands?
9.  Will the water well currently being drilled at PTA be tested for DU?  If not why not?
10. For years the community has been calling for comprehensive independent testing and monitoring for DU at PTA that is transparent and insures the confidence of the community.  Why hasn’t this been done?  When will it be done?  Will the NRC require it?

In addition, require the Army to offer long-term workers at PTA 24 hour urine tests to check for DU exposure.

Thank You.
Jim
