Appeal to help Protect Mauna Kea and support Hawaiians spiritual stand
Aloha Peace Ohana,
I was up on the mountain yesterday (Tuesday) to support the stand of Native Hawaiians to protect the sacred temple of Mauna Kea from further desecration by the TMT 18-story telescope, I commend the aloha stand of the people involved. While there, Police Captain Sherlock came to explain that the next time the TMT construction workers attempt to get to the TMT site to begin construction, the police will make arrest of anyone blocking the paved access road which is under county jurisdiction. He said the charge would be a petty misdemeanor. It appears that attempt to begin construction will likely (though no guarantees) be Thursday morning. Their is a call for all supporters to come to the Mauna Kea visitors area at 6AM Thursday –those prepared to face arrest with aloha, and those willing to stand in support with aloha. Those willing to face arrest should try to arrange car pooling because once arrested, people will be transported in handcuffs to the Hilo police station for processing. Also, be prepared to post bail if required and desired. The most important thing is to come to the mountain in a spirit of aloha to protect the sacred temple of Mauna Kea from further desecration. (See leaflet below) Those wanting to car pool could meet at the Komohana/Puainako/Saddle Rd. parking area at 4:30AM Thursday.
Please pass the word.
Mahalo and solidarity,
Jim Albertini

HOLY
WEEK
2015
Bulldoze Your Own
Temple?
NO TMT
(Thirty Meter Telescope)
on the Sacred Hawaiian Temple – Mauna Kea!
In the Christian calendar, April 3rd is Good Friday, the day that commemorates Jesus’ crucifixion by the Roman Empire for the crime of sedition (stirring up the people). Good Friday is part of Holy Week that begins with Palm Sunday and ends with Easter Sunday, the day that Jesus rose from the dead. Also within Holy Week is the important biblical story of Jesus entering the Temple in Jerusalem and driving out the moneychangers who were exploiting the people and defiling the sacred place.
This week, many Hawaiians and others are taking action to protect Hawaii’s Sacred Temple – Mauna Kea from further desecration – bulldozing for the $1.4 billion Thirty Meter Telescope – TMT, to add to the many telescopes already on the sacred mountain. Hawaiians are asking that their spiritual beliefs, religion, culture, and traditions be taken seriously. They are saying enough desecration. The sacred must come before dollars, jobs, etc. They are saying that Mauna Kea is not a commodity. It is time to honor, respect, and protect Mauna Kea. It is time for aloha ‘aina to be the guiding light for Hawaii and the world.
Aloha Mauna Kea! Or Don’t We Care? Has Money Become Our God?
