Fascism is on the US Doorstep June 12, 2020 Hilo Peace Vigil leaflet
A Man Without Shame &
Principle!
While the nation and the world grieves the racist police murder of George Floyd, Donald Trump demonstrated he is simply incapable of empathy. Trump’s concern is all about himself, power and domination.
Trump had Federal police use blatant physical force – batons, munitions, and tear gas, to clear peaceful protesters and journalists from the area fronting the White House. Why? So Trump and his all white contingent could walk to nearby St. John’s church for a photo op of Trump holding up a Bible. He didn’t pray, offer thoughts for national healing and unifying the country, words of condolence to those grieving. He simply used the church and the Bible as props for his own bloated image.
Trump has been widely condemned by religious leaders for his abuse of sacred symbols and sacred space and making a mockery of keeping the peace. Journalist Bill Moyers had this to say about Trump. “He has declared himself above the law, preached insurrection by encouraging armed supporters to “liberate” states from the governance of duly elected officials, told police not to be “too nice” while doing their job, and gloated over the ability of the Secret Service to turn “vicious dogs” and “ominous weapons” loose on demonstrators — to “come down on them hard” if they get too “frisky.”
Let’s be clear. Trump is mentally unstable. Former Harvard psychiatrist Lance Dodes says Trump is a man of ‘paranoid rage.” He is dangerous and will become increasingly so as the 2020 election approaches. He is all about authoritarian power and forcible suppression of opposition. He would like to turn America into a police state, and suspend the U.S. Constitution. Be prepared for coming “incidents” to be used as excuses for ending even the appearance of democracy.
Fascism is on the U.S. Doorstep!
Or perhaps we are already swimming
in it!
