Urge Mayor Kenoi to sign Bill 113 for a GMO Ban in Hawaii County

Aloha kakou,
Below is a message from GMO free Hawaii I urge you to support.
I received word that the Mayor is leaning toward a veto and that lots of pressure is being put upon the six who voted for Bill 113 to change their vote. I would therefore urge phone calls and emails to all council members and the Mayor in support of Bill 113. If the Mayor does veto, six votes are needed to override. If just one person caves to pressure the bill will be defeated. However, now is a critical time for calls and emails to support Bill 113, especially to the Mayor 961-8211, Email: cohmayor@co.hawaii.hi.us
If he does not veto, the Bill becomes law. Mahalo.

GO HAWAII ISLAND! Bill 113 Passes 6-3. Now it’s up to Mayor Kenoi!
Those voting against the bill: Councilmembers Ilagan, Onishi and Yoshimoto.
Those voting against sending the bill immediately to the mayor: Kanuha, Ilagan and Onishi. That vote was 6-3 sending the bill immediately to Mayor Kenoi after Council Chairman Yoshimoto signs it and forwards it to him (possibly on Nov. 21), starting the 10-day countdown.
The mayor has ten days to sign the bill or let it automatically become law. If he vetoes it, the Council needs a two thirds majority to override the veto. That means six YES votes would be needed. The 6-3 vote may not hold for a veto override, and so NOW is the time for everyone who wants to move us closer towards making sustainable agriculture in Hawaii a reality, to take part in this campaign. If the bill is vetoed, that would be the time to contact those councilmembers who voted NO, asking them to vote YES for the veto override.
Sign the Petitions and Forward Them to Your Family, Friends, and Networks. We need thousands of signatures:
