Groundwater contaminated by radiation from nuclear testing days

Saturday, April 29th, 2017

Groundwater drunk by BILLIONS of people may be contaminated by radioactive material spread across the world by nuclear testing in the 1950s

  • Researchers looked at groundwater from over 6,000 wells around the globe
  • They found traces of radioactive tritium in over half of the wells
  • Even at low doses, tritium has been linked with increased risk of cancer

March to save the Planet from Climate Disaster & War

Friday, April 28th, 2017

Sat. April 29, 2017 Mo’oheau Bandstand in Hilo 12-5PM.  Help carry banners and signs

Save the Planet!  Aloha ‘Aina!

No More War!

Prevent Climate Disaster!

The U.S. Military is the single largest consumer of oil and the largest emitter of CO2 in the world.

Here in the center of Hawaii Island is a 133,000-acre toxic waste dump that includes lead, Depleted Uranium (DU) and a host of other pollutants. It’s known as the Military Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA). And to make matters worse, the military is bombing the toxic waste dump. Are we inhaling toxic military DU oxide dust? The bombing must be stopped and PTA shut down, cleaned up, and returned to the independent nation of Hawaii.

Hawaii’s Dr. Lorrin Pang. MD explains in simple terms the health dangers of inhaling depleted uranium dust in this short video.

Solidarity for Justice, Peace, and the Earth.

Besides Climate Disaster, the threat of nuclear war poses an imminent danger to the survival of life on planet earth.

Why Is There So Little Popular Protest Against Recent Threats of Nuclear War?

“The current situation in Korea, Syria, and the U.S. surrounding Russia and China with bases is an extremely dangerous situation that increases the risk of nuclear war.  There is an urgent need for diplomacy not war.  Much of the world views the U.S. as the greatest threat to peace on the planet.  Why is it a provocation when Korea test fires a missile yesterday, but the U.S. test firing a missile 2 days ago is not?  I was taught we should not talk about the speck in another person’s eye and ignore the log in our own eye.” Jim Albertini

Increasing Nuclear War risk

Friday, April 28th, 2017

Subject: Chomsky on a Bulletin of Atomic Scientist (BAS) article on Nuclear war risk

Here is an excerpt from a Chomsky interview, via ZCommunications, with news he says is the most important in a long time:

Daniel Falcone: What do you make of the distressing lack of discussion on climate change and nuclear proliferation in the mainstream media?

Noam Chomsky: If you want to learn something about nuclear weapons and why these issues are not being reported, take a look at the March 1 issue of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, where there is an absolutely spectacular article by two real experts — Hans M. Kristensen and Ted Postol from MIT. They discuss the new targeting systems that have been invented under the Obama Modernization Program that’s now being escalated by Trump, and it’s extremely dangerous. What they claim based on disclosed information is that the US missile systems have been improved by such a huge factor that they are now capable of instantly wiping out the Russian deterrent.

This is massive overkill and nuclear stability is gone, and of course, the Russians know this. What that implies is that if they ever feel a threat, they’re just going to be compelled to launch a preemptive strike because otherwise they’re dead, you know? And that means we’re all dead. This is the most important news that’s come out in I don’t know how long.

 The full interview is at:

  The BAS article is at:

This underscores the need for a global movement for nuclear disarmament.

Why Is There So Little Protest Against Recent Threats of Nuclear War?
By Lawrence Wittner
People read about the situation in newspapers or watch it on the television news, while comedians joke about the madness of it all.
