The Enduring Reign of Nuclear Terror
Tuesday, February 26th, 2019Bravo Nuclear Test Remembrance!
On March 1, 1954 the U.S. government tested Bravo, a hydrogen bomb on Bikini atoll in the Marshall Islands. The test – 15 megatons (15 million tons of TNT equivalent) proved to be 1,000 times stronger than the Hiroshima A-bomb. The Bravo test was just one of 67 nuclear tests done at Bikini and Enewetak atolls from 1946 to 1958 carried out by the U.S. Hundreds of additional nuclear tests have also been conducted by Britain and France in the Pacific. March 1 is now known as Nuclear Free & Independent Pacific Day. Join Nuclear Free and Independent Pacific on Facebook.
There will be a Bravo Test Remembrance Hilo Worship Event sponsored by various Marshallese churches on Friday, March 1, 2019, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

This week, while US President Trump meets with North Korea President Kim Jong-un to discuss nuclear matters, the US is threatening war against Venezuela, Iran, and initialing a new nuclear arms race with Russia after the US pulled out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces agreement. Many scholars believe the current global situation is now the most dangerous since the Soviet-US Cuban missile crisis of 1962. For more information on the current dangers of nuclear weapons see
