US Out of Afghanistan!

The Graveyard of Empires!

War profits only those who make the weapons

After 20 years of war, thousands of lives lost, and trillions of dollars spent, the U.S. is finally out of Afghanistan, officially. But I am sure the CIA opium money, covert Special Ops, and assassination drone strikes will continue in some capacity. It’s not called endless war for nothing.

The U.S. empire is spread all over the globe with more than 750 military bases, and many other wars continue, overtly and covertly. It’s been said: “Once weapons were manufactured to fight wars; now wars are manufactured to sell weapons.” It appears the Arms Merchants of Death are gearing up for something much bigger – a possible war with China. The propaganda campaign to manufacture consent and the military pivot to Asia are both well underway along with billions more being spent on weapons of war.

The much needed work for peace never ends. Diplomacy not war is the repeated call. Redirect military spending away from war to meet human needs, including the global Covid pandemic, and climate catastrophe becoming ever more visible with fires and storms. Today marks the 1040th week (20 years) of the Hilo Peace Vigil with a new peace leaflet prepared each week for distribution via the internet and handed out on the Hilo Post Office street corner. Email to receive the new weekly leaflet electronically. Mahalo & Aloha! And remember – Stop Bombing Pohakuloa!  Clean up the military mess.  And end the illegal US military occupation of Hawaii too!

Wage Peace Not War!

1. Mourn all victims of violence. 2. Reject violence & war as solutions. 3. Defend civil liberties.
4. Oppose all discrimination, anti-Islamic, anti-Semitic,
anti-Hawaiian, anti-Black, anti-Asian, etc.
5. Seek peace through peaceful means and work for justice in Hawai`i and around the world.
