New Anti-Russian Hysteria

Intelligence “Officials” have made claims, without providing evidence, that Russia secretly offered Afghan militants Bounties to kill US troops. Remember these same Intelligence Services and “officials” lied about WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction) in Iraq. Those lies led to the illegal U.S. invasion of Iraq and endless war in the region including millions of people killed, wounded, displaced, and widespread destruction and chaos.

Make no mistake. I am not a supporter of Donald Trump. Far from it. But I am raising the alarm and important questions: Are we being lied to again? And where could such lies lead? Iraq had no WMDs. Russia is a nuclear power. Amid a global Covid Pandemic, massive economic disruption threatening a global depression, climate catastrophe, etc. do we want a nuclear war too?

Mainstream and social media are on fire with angry pundits, anti-Trump politicians demanding action against Russia. A new wave of anti-Russia hysteria is being whipped up. In contrast, is the voice of Scott Ritter. a former US Marine Corps intelligence officer. He served in the Soviet Union as an inspector implementing the INF Treaty, in General Schwarzkopf’s staff during the Gulf War, and from 1991-1998 as a UN weapons inspector.  Ritter wrote a piece that everyone needs to read and ponder in the midst of this anti-Russia hysteria.

The initial report of Russia offering bounties to kill US troops came from the NY Times. Ritter says “There was just one problem — nothing in the New York Times could be corroborated. Indeed, there is no difference between the original reporting conducted by the New York Times, and the “confirming” reports published by the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal. All of the reports contain caveats such as “if confirmed” and “if true,” while providing no analysis into the potential veracity of the information used to sustain the report — alleged debriefs of Afghan criminals and militants — or the underpinning logic, or lack thereof, of the information itself.” Ritter raises a lot of other questions.
