Please Submit testimony in support of SCR 25 establishing Kapu Aloha Faith Pods in Hawaii Correctional facilities

My testimony is below.

Our organization is in strong support of SCR 25 establishing Kapu Aloha
Faith Pods in correctional facilities.  This is a win-win situation for
everyone –inmates, their families, the community, and the correctional
facilities.  The Kapu Aloha Faith Pods will help inmates find focus,
meaning, and improve their lives in a safe space.  It will reduce stress
and worry for inmate families, and benefit the community by having
people come out of jails and prisons better than than went in.  It will
also help the DPS with more prisoners committed to Kapu Aloha, instead
of connected to gangs.

Kapu Aloha Faith pods will be an important first step toward healing.  A
long range positive vision is for modern day Pu’uhonua (wellness centers
and places of healing) as alternative to prisons.  NO MORE PRISONS.  We
can do better with Pu’uhonua.

Mahalo for your support.

the only way to submit written testimony is to use the testimony form on the legislature’s website. You may want to suggest that people go ahead and set up an account (“Register”) with the site ahead of time — that makes things simpler when you ask them to submit testimony.

After setting up an account, you just need to go to the legislature’s website (https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/), sign in (upper right), click on the “Testimony” button and enter the resolution number. Then, fill out the form and put your comments in the “Testimony/Comments” box and click submit. (If people also want to appear on Zoom, they’ll need to make that selection on the form. See the attached for further instructions.)

Public Access Room for assistance — we’ll walk them through the process of setting up an account and/or submitting testimony (808/587-0478 orpar@capitol.hawaii.gov).
