Feast of the Holy Innocents

1 John 1:5-2:2 | Matthew 2:13-18

“When the magi had departed, behold, the angel of God appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you.”

“Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him.” (Matthew 2:13)  In pursuit of one child, Herod massacred all of the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity.

Today, Israel’s bombing of Gaza with U.S. weapons in pursuit of Hamas has killed more than 10,000 children in less than three months.
I deplore and condemn the killing of more than 1000 people in Israel done by Hamas on Oct. 7th, but Israel’s killing of 10,000 Palestinian kids is not self-defense.  Our world needs to end the cycle of violence.  What’s needed now is a Permanent Ceasefire, before this war escalates to a possible global nuclear war.  A Global New Year’s Resolution is desperately needed — No More War!  War Never Again.  Together, let’s build a world of peace on a foundation of justice.  Israel needs to end its illegal occupation of Palestine.  And the US needs to end its illegal occupation of Hawaii.
