The world’s largest military naval exercise – RIMPAC (Rim of the Pacific) is taking place this month in and around Hawaii, and includes bombing at the 133,000-acre Pohakuloa Training Area, in the center of Hawaii Island. RIMPAC involves 22 nations, 42 surface ships, six submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel.

The money required to eradicate hunger for everyone in the world has been estimated at $30 billion a year… about as much as the world spends on the military every eight days. The U.S.A. is the world’s top military spender, spending nearly as much as the rest of the world combined. Meanwhile, nearly 25% of the children on Hawaii Island are food insecure. It’s time to set our priorities straight!

Feed the People Not the War Machine!

Malu ‘Aina asks everyone to come with the spirit of aloha. This protest is one of principled non-violence, where we treat all people we encounter with respect, even those who disagree with us. Do not return insult for insult. Stand firm with aloha !

Mahalo.

Military-Industrial Complex dangers!

Thursday, July 5th, 2012

Short 3 minute video about former General/President Dwight Eisenhower warning about the growing dangers of the military-industrial complex.  Must see and reflect about how far the US has moved in 50 years toward total domination by this arms industry.  Thanks to Bob Akamine for finding this important video. Please share with others.

Boycott, Divest, & Sanction Israel

Shut Down Ormat (PGV)

an Israeli Company!

There is a worldwide movement to Boycott, Divest and Sanction (BDS) Israel for its treatment of Palestinians, similar to that applied to South Africa during the apartheid era.

Ormat, which owns Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV), is an Israeli company.

Hawaii should join the global BDS movement and Boycott and Divest from the Israeli Company – Ormat! This is another reason to Shut Down PGV besides it’s toxic health effects and desecration of the Hawaiian deity –Pele!
