Sarin gas claimed used in Syrian attack also used by U.S. military in secret 1960s testing in Hilo’s watershed

Below is a link to an Associated Press story on the April 4, 2017 gas attack in Syria that killed nearly 90 people.    Autopsies done in Turkey report that sarin gas was used in the attack. Whether the gas was used, or a stockpile intentionally or accidentally bombed by the Syrain government, terrorist rebels, or others has not been determined.  An independent investigation is needed.

Turkey: Autopsies show sarin gas used against Syrian town. By Bassem Mroue and Philip Issa (Associated Press) | Updated April 12, 2017 – 8:00am. googleplus.

Below is a cover page Fact Sheet code named “Green Mist” on Sarin nerve gas agent (GB) tested by the U.S. military March 25- April 24, 1967 in the Ola’a Forest.  The tests detonated M139 sarin nerve agent filled bomblets at several heights below the forest canopy.  The fact sheet was released by the U.S. Defense Dept. on Oct. 9, 2002. Many other chemical biological tests were secretly conducted over several years in the forests south of Hilo during the 1960s:  Code names “Yellow Leaf” Pine Ridge” “Blue Tango” “Tall Timber” “Red Oak” etc.
Whether there were harmful health effects on Hawaii island residents is unknown.    The military obtained a lease from the State of Hawaii to do what it said was “Weather testing.” The military lied.  They were secretly testing deadly chemical/biological agents some of which can kill in minutes at dosages of 1/50 of a drop according to Chemical and Biological Warfare author Seymour M. Hersh, Hersh says Sarin GB gas is an odorless, colorless volatile gas.  Seymour Hersh was the investigative reporter who disclosed the My Lai massacre in Vietnam where U.S. troops slaughtered hundreds of unarmed  children, women and elderly at the village of My Lai.

Hunters and DLNR staff have said there are wide areas where nothing grows in what use to be rainforest  where these chemical/biological tests took place.  Lots of barrels remain there.  Lots of the stuff was mixed at KMC and excess was dumped across the hwy in the lava crack by Volcano golf course.  The point is the military lied to the state about leasing land for “weather testing.”  Shinichi Kimura who was Mayor when Patsy Mink broke the story said “CANCEL THE LEASE.  THE MILITARY LIED.”  The lease was cancelled.  The same should be done at Pohakuloa.  The military said for years they never used DU.  Then peace groups on Oahu found documents confirming DU use.  The military lied again.  Cancel the Pohakuloa lease.

Challenge to NRC License to Bomb Depleted Uranium at Pohakuloa

Wednesday, April 12th, 2017

“The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is allowing the U.S. military to use high explosives in areas known to be contaminated with Depleted uranium (DU).  In effect it is allowing the military to bomb a known nuclear waste dump.  This should be declared criminal by the citizens of Hawaii and the world.”

DEPLETED URANIUM CHALLENGE

Hilo, Hawai’i, April 11, 2017— Four Hawai’i Island residents are challenging the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approval of Army monitoring plans for depleted uranium (DU) spotting rounds at Pohakuloa.

Jim Albertini, Ruth Aloua, Cory Harden, and Hawane Rios formally requested a hearing from NRC.

Albertini says the NRC is failing “to deal with the dangers of DU oxide inhalation.” He calls for cleanup of the DU, independent “comprehensive testing”, and a halt to live-fire and “activities that create dust” at Pohakuloa. He says DU from sources besides the spotting rounds may have been used at Pohakuloa. He calls Army studies inadequate and cites elevated readings from citizen radiation monitors near Pohakuloa.

Aloua, who lives and does organic farming five miles from Pohakuloa at Waiki’i Ranch, says her “genealogical relationship to the ‘aina (land)… teaches me to honor Papahanaumoku (Earth Mother) by ensuring that the places that nourish me spiritually, emotionally and physically are protected and unharmed.” She says the “presence of DU and potential harm this poses to humans, plants, animals and elements require me to step forward as a petitioner”.

Harden echoes many of Albertini’s concerns. She also says that studies underestimate the number of spotting rounds used at Pohakuloa and that DU aerosols can travel for miles. She calls for studies to clarify what form of DU is being studied—metal or oxide, says the amount of DU found in a Waiki’i Ranch study could actually be twice the measured value, and describes specific “shortcomings” in Army studies.

Rios also lives at Waiki’i, and cites health issues since moving there. She says she is linked “to a lineage of indigenous peoples  who passed down a sacred all-encompassing transcendental interconnected relationship to each other, the elements, land, ocean, waterways, and all living beings.” She says she was taught “that Pohakuloa is the energetic piko (center) of our island.” She says she is “deeply concerned by the potential contamination of our air, fresh water resources, and food sources.”

Letter sent to Hawaii Tribune-Herald newspaper

Letter to the Editor –Hawaii Tribune Herald

Pohakuloa:  Clean up your DU DU

Penelope Blair’s letter of 4/8 was critical of our efforts to Protect Pohakuloa.

The 133,000-acre military Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA), which is 4-5 times the size of Kaho’olawe, is known to be contaminated with radioactive Depleted Uranium (DU), as well as other military toxins.  My particular concern is the inhalation of DU oxide alpha particles.   Dr. Lorrin Pang, MD, with 25 years experience in the Army Medical Corps, says inhalation of radiation alpha particles is “the most deadly form of radiation.”

In 2008, the Hawaii County Council by a vote of 8-1 passed resolution 639-08 which called for stopping all live-fire at Pohakuloa and clean up of the DU present.  Yet Military live-fire, involving millions of live rounds annually, continues and the DU has not been cleaned up.  In fact no comprehensive independent testing and monitoring has been done to determine the full extent of DU contamination.  Continued bombing can resuspend DU oxide dust particles which can be carried long distances by the winds.

Our organization has detected numerous elevated radiation readings around Pohakuloa, including Mauna Kea Park and the Saddle Road area.  Readings have been 3-4 times  background levels.  On April 20th Pohakuloa is hosting an “Earth Day” event 9AM-2PM.  The public , including school children, are being invited to attend.  Our organization would discourage pregnant women and young children from visiting  Pohakuloa.  I and others will be at the Pohakuloa main gate to say Earth Day is Every Day –Stop Bombing the Earth.  We invite Penelope  Blair to join us to do radiation monitoring and hold a sign for Aloha ‘Aina and for the military to clean up its DU DU.

Danger of Global War

Tuesday, April 11th, 2017

GOOD FRIDAY 2017

On the Edge of Global Crucifixion & Martial Law

“I think this is the most dangerous moment in American, Russian relations since the Cuban Crisis” – Stephen Cohen, Professor emeritus of Russian studies at Princeton University and New York University

See short video interview with Professor Cohen here

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/46838.htm

There is a dangerous possibility of a U.S. – Russia hot war in Syria by accident or design, including a false flag triggering event created by the U.S. and/or one of its allies. In addition, the U.S. and NATO is surrounding Russia with missiles within minutes of their targets and the U.S. orchestrated a coup in Ukraine right on Russia’s door step.

If the possibility of a U.S. – Russia hot war which could quickly move to the use of nuclear weapons and global destruction is not bad enough, we have a similar Pacific/Asia confrontation building between the U.S. and North Korea. The U.S. has moved a carrier ship and accompanying warships into nearby waters, has placed killer drones and Navy Seal Team 6 Special Ops assassins in Korea and put U.S. troops on high alert. In the event the U.S. attempts to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un or attacks North Korean nuclear sites, there is the high likelihood that North Korean cannons along the DMZ will fire on Seoul, a city of more than 10 million people, and nuclear missiles may even be fired on Tokyo. A missile doesn’t have to be very accurate to hit a city the size of Tokyo.

In the event of a hot war with either Russia or Korea, the likelihood of a rapid escalation to the use of nuclear weapons is very real. It is even conceivable that the U.S. will attempt a pre-emptive nuclear first strike on Russia and/or North Korea under the illusion that it can “win” a nuclear war. Be assured, that if citizens of the world do not rise up to stop this madness now before it escalates further, when the missiles fly and the death toll mounts Martial law will be declared for those who survive.

Lord Have Mercy!  May Sanity Prevail!

No More War!

  1. Mourn all victims of violence. 2. Reject war as a solution. 3. Defend civil liberties.
    4. Oppose all discrimination, anti-Islamic, anti-Semitic, anti-Hawaiian, etc.
    5. Seek peace through peaceful means and work for justice in Hawai`i and around the world.
