Join the peace organizing meeting on Monday, Nov. 25th from 6-8 PM at the Kea’au Community Center. Lots to discuss. Hopefully we will be celebrating the repeal after 40 years of the military exemption from Hawaii County’s Nuclear-Free Law. See below. We need your phone call and/or email to Mayor Mitch Roth by Monday urging him to sign Bill 206 draft 2 or simply let it become law without his signature. The County Council Passed the Bill Unanimously in committee and 2 regular council meetings.
Peace meetings are held regularly on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month from 6 – 8 PM at the Kea’au Community Center. Please pass the word.
We’ll discuss follow-up actions to Bill 206 draft 2, expectations from the recent elections locally, nationally. The increasing dangers of the expanding wars in the Middle East, the Russia/Ukraine escalating war and the build up for war with China, etc. Please come and join the discussion and share thoughts. Repeal the military exemption from Hawaii County’s Nuclear-Free Law
Mayor Roth must sign Bill 206 draft 2 or simply let it become law. Not Veto it. If Mayor Roth vetoes
the bill, the council can override the veto with a 2/3 council vote if they so choose.

Repeal the military exemption from Hawaii County’s Nuclear-Free Law
Bill 206 draft 2 was sent to Mayor Mitch Roth on Friday, Nov. 15th after passing the Hawaii County Council unanimously.
The Mayor has 10 days (until Nov. 25th) to sign it, let it become law without his signature, or veto the Bill and send it
back to the Council for a possible 2/3 vote override. Please pass the word widely, and encourage people to call or email
the Mayor and urge him to sign Bill 206 Draft 2.
