Things Are Far Worse Than You Think!

The Truth is Getting Harder to Find!

Take it from the late Historian William Blum

Remember the Pentagon Papers – the War Department’s Top secret history of the Vietnam war released by whistle blower Daniel Ellsberg and how the people were lied to about that war? Well….

– The First Iraq War waged by George H.W. (Papa) Bush Was Also Sold to the Public Based on a Pack of Lies

https://www.commondreams.org/views/2014/06/27/first-iraq-war-was-also-sold-public-based-pack-lies?fbclid=IwAR2AA0FV9WRfjcVRzdlHcxIebamPUlF16ODBBa_InCUAUZNCyqD9HxWlCyY

The Second Iraq War waged by George W. (Junior) Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, etc. was also based on lies – about Iraq Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) that didn’t exist.

Now more lies have been revealed about the US war in Afghanistan that’s been going for more than 18 years (under Dems & Repub), the longest war in US history. Confidential documents prove: U.S. officials lied about the war in Afghanistan http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/52673.htm

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/our-friends-didnt-have-to-die-afghanistan-papers-surface-pain-and-familiar-frustrations/ar-BBY0Cdg?ocid=spartandhp

Now, when you hear both Democrats and Republicans and the stooge mass media trying to blame the Russians, Ukraine, etc. and talking about protecting “Freedom & Democracy and the U.S. Constitution,” remember the lies of war and how the US has interfered in other countries elections. To see a partial list of US real interference (Democrats & Republicans on behalf of corporate interests) in other countries elections and outright overthrows (including Ukraine) see William Blum’s Rogue State: A Guide to the World’s Only Superpower and https://williamblum.org/aer/read/156

Also remember, it was the US military assisting corporate sugar interests to overthrow the lawful Hawaiian government of Queen Lili’uokalani in 1893 with a continuing illegal US military occupation to this day. There was never any lawful treaty of annexation. It is long past time to make right, end U.S. occupation, and restore the legitimate independent nation of Hawaii.

Don’t Believe the Official Lies!  Always Seek the Truth!

  1. Mourn all victims of violence. 2. Reject war as a solution. 3. Defend civil liberties.
    4. Oppose all discrimination, anti-Islamic, anti-Semitic, anti-Hawaiian, etc.
    5. Seek peace through peaceful means and work for justice in Hawai`i and around the world.

Annual Christmas Appeal

Dear Friends,                                                                                                                 December 2019

Once a year we write to ask for your help to sustain the work of Malu ‘Aina for justice, peace and a living planet.  This year is extra special.  It marks the 40th anniversary of our founding, and the name Malu ‘Aina given by Bernard Punikai’a of Hale Mohalu and Kalaupapa.  For 40 years we have survived as an all volunteer organization and have been very grateful for your donations of support that have made that possible.  From the start we decided not to seek foundation money, corporate money, or government grants to maintain our independence and critical voice on important issues.

A donation of 21 acres of land from a friend was the seed to start Malu ‘Aina.  Our vision was to start small and stay small, to be a kipuka of resistance, a base rooted in the principle of nonviolence, to learn and share sustainability skills to grow food, build simple structures, live off the grid, and organize for justice, peace and protecting the earth.  We started living in tents, catching rain water and clearing old sugar cane land by hand to plant fruits and vegetables.

Over time we have built several small structures, still live off the electric grid and use rainwater catchment, planted more than 100 fruit trees and a wide variety of food crops to feed people.  We have served as an emergency food pantry for over 30 years, helping thousands, conducted 948 consecutive weeks and counting of a Hilo Peace vigil at the downtown Post office/Federal Building , writing a new leaflet each week for distribution on the street corner and via the internet, and available on our website www.malu-aina.org.  We continue efforts to stop the bombing and demilitarize Pohakuloa and all Hawaii, and to protect Sacred Mauna Kea from further desecration.  Protecting Mauna Kea is a direct connection to protecting the planet from climate catastrophe.  It all starts with respecting native people’s cultural and religious beliefs and practices.  It means protecting the Sacred.  Sacred before dollars!

After 40 years, Malu ‘Aina is in transition to a new generation of leadership.  Hopefully, with your continued financial support and solidarity, and the volunteer helping hands of many, the vision of Malu ‘Aina will be carried forward for generations to come.  What is most important is the spirit and mission — to stand in the spirit of nonviolence — Kapu Aloha, and work for a Hawaii and world rooted in justice, peace, and protecting the sacred – mauka to makai –from the mountains to the sea.  Mahalo to all of you for your financial support and helping hands of solidarity in this journey of 40 years and beyond.

With gratitude and aloha,

Jim Albertini

War, War, & More War!  What is it good for?

The Arms Merchants of Death!

America has spent $6.4 trillion on wars since 2001

The report, from Watson Institute of International and Public Affairs at Brown University finds that more than 801,000 people have died in fighting. Millions more wounded and displaced.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. viewed military spending as an enemy of the poor.

“A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.” MLK

In a now famous April 1967 speech at Riverside Church in New York City, the civil rights leader publicly denounced American involvement in Indochina.

After King’s Riverside speech against the US war in Vietnam 168 newspapers denounced him the next day. Johnson ended his formal relationship with King. “What is that goddamned nigger preacher doing to me?” Johnson reportedly remarked after the Riverside speech. “We gave him the Civil Rights Act of 1964, we gave him the Voting Rights Act of 1965, we gave him the war on poverty. What more does he want?”

In 1968, King launched the Poor People’s Campaign, aimed at providing good jobs, housing, and a decent standard of living to all Americans. King proposed a massive summer tent encampment in Washington, D.C. to demand action on poverty. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968 during a campaign to organize sanitation workers in Tennessee, before he was able to set up the encampment.

King’s ongoing campaign against racism, coming out strong against the US war in Indochina and planning a massive nonviolent civil disobedience campaign for the summer of 1968 in Washington. D.C. on economic injustice sealed his fate. Let us carry on King’s vision of nonviolence against racism, war, and injustice, and for peace, justice, and protecting the planet.
