Oppose Army leases on Oahu

Aloha All,

The Kahuku Community Association is hosting a very important meeting about the U.S. Army’s proposal to retain State Lands at Kahuku, Kawailoa-Poamoho, and Makua for continued military use.

Wednesday, July 10, 6:00-8:00pm

Kahuku High and Intermediate School

The Army’s 65 year lease on these 6,322 acres of land ends in 2029, and next week we have an opportunity to give oral testimony on the Army’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement here in Kahuku.

The Public Comment Period for the Army’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement is open now and ends on August 7, 2024. The decision to end or renew the lease will largely depend on the public comments received. This is your opportunity to share your thoughts on military use of land in Kahuku as well as other sites.

Please note that initially there were only two meetings, one on the Westside and in Schofield. KCA advocated on behalf of our Ko’olauloa and North Shore communities to have a meeting here, and now it is vital that we show up.
