HAPA is proud to partner with organizations working toward a deoccupied and demilitarized Hawaiʻi. Whether your focus is in food systems and sustainability, education, community-based resource stewardship, or social and economic justice, the heavy militarism in Hawaiʻi negatively impacts us all, and more importantly deeply impacts ʻāina, and all natural resources.
End the US Military’s Lease on Oʻahu!
From our partner, Hawaiʻi Peoples Fund:
“Speak out and provide public comment on the Army’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) proposing to renew leases from the state of Hawaiʻi on three parcels in Mākua (782 acres), Poamoho (4,390) and Kahuku (1,150 acres) currently used by the Army, Marine Corps and Hawaii National Guard. The leases expire in 2029 and 100% of the lands up for renewal are stolen Hawaiian Kingdom lands.
The written comment period is still open for the Army’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement. Written testimony can be submitted both online and via email.
Comments must be postmarked or received by 11:59 PM HST on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2024.”
