Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — important words  (from article by  Physicians for Social Responsibility)

In 1967, Rev. Martin Luther King invoked his warning of the “fierce urgency of now.” Speaking at Riverside Church in New York, he delivered one of his most radical speeches, calling for an end to the U.S. war in Vietnam and highlighting its links to poverty, racism, and injustice back home. King critiqued a society that valued “machines and computers, profit motives and property rights” over people. He called for a “radical revolution of values” to conquer the injustices at the root of the war: “the giant triplets of racism, extreme materialism, and militarism.”

Here are links to the audio and transcript of King’s 1967 speech, “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence.”
