Overcoming the Giant Triplets of Racism, Extreme Materialism, and Militarism
ENDING POVERTY & HOMELESSNESS!
Decent Food, Clothing, Housing, Education, Health Care, Employment, etc. should be recognized as Human Rights for ALL !
We need a more just society where the gap between rich and poor is narrowed, not widened. Mumbai, India pictured above, is increasingly becoming everywhere U.S.A. with Honolulu now ranking #1 in homeless major cities. Homeless people and those living on the edge of becoming homeless are increasing throughout Hawaii.. Housing is being priced out of the reach of more and more people.
Dr. Martin Luther King said, “Our only hope… lies in our ability to recapture the revolutionary spirit, and go out into a sometimes hostile world declaring eternal hostility to poverty, racism, and militarism.”
There always seems to be enough money for war and new weapons systems. The US is the greatest seller of weapons in the world and the most heavily armed nation the world has ever known.
As we begin the new year of 2017 let’s change priorities. Let’s rededicate our lives toward building our communities and world on a foundation of justice, peace, and nonviolence. In the process let us live aloha where “kindness is the language the blind can see and the deaf can hear.”
A Happy New Year for ALL!
1. Mourn all victims of violence. 2. Reject war as a solution. 3. Defend civil liberties.
4. Oppose all discrimination, anti-Islamic, anti-Semitic, anti-Hawaiian, etc.
5. Seek peace through peaceful means and work for justice in Hawai`i and around the world.
