SHAME!

On Israel & the U.S. for the Massacre in Gaza

Israel Killed 61 & Wounded 2,700 Protesters in Gaza

for protesting the May 14, 2018 opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem and 70 years of Israel’s occupation of Palestine. It was the deadliest day for Palestinian protesters since they launched the nonviolent Great March of Return on March 30. Palestinian leaders are accusing the Israeli military of carrying out war crimes during the crackdown. More protests and a general strike across the Palestinian territories are planned to mark 70 years since the Nakba, or Catastrophe, when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forcibly expelled from their homes after the state of Israel was formed. Israel is the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. foreign assistance since World War II – $134.7 billion, almost all in military assistance.

“Sorry, Israel apologists: you sound just like the folks who defended apartheid when South Africa massacred unarmed black protesters in Soweto. As a Jew I used to debate you, but now I’m just sick and tired of you using my dead relatives to justify killing people who had nothing to do with the genocide.

For so many years we’ve heard the lie that Palestinians don’t recognize Israel’s right to exist, and they want to “drive the Jews into the sea.” But it’s Israel that has failed to recognize Palestine’s right to exist, and is now shooting down hundreds of Palestinians at the Gaza border to force them back in the direction of the sea.

You’re either with Trump and Netanyahu’s slaughter and hideous vision of ethnic cleansing, or you’re against it. Either Palestinians are human beings or they’re not–there’s no more middle ground.”

Zoltán Grossman, Professor of Geography and Native Studies, Evergreen State College
