Ceasefire & Negotiate NOW!
Nuclear War is NOT the Answer!
In the view of many, we are closer to nuclear war than at any point in history over the U.S. proxy war with Russia in Ukraine. We live in a time when war is promoted and celebrated, and peace is ridiculed and censored. If the world is to survive, we must make some profound changes NOW!
This week marks the 60 anniversary of the Cuban Missile Crisis. In Oct. 1962, the US and the former Soviet Union came dangerously close to nuclear war over Soviet nuclear missiles being placed in Cuba, 90 miles from the US. The US established a blockade around Cuba and demanded the Soviet nuclear missiles be removed. Many US military officials wanted to launch a pre-emptive first strike on the Soviet Union and its missiles in Cuba. President John F. Kennedy said NO. Kennedy and Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev reached a back channel negotiated agreement that averted a global nuclear war. The Soviet Union would remove its nuclear missiles from Cuba and the US would remove its nuclear missiles from Turkey on the Soviet border. See JFK’s speech at American Univ. in 1963 on the crisis and steps forward for peace. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_University_speech
US Military Bases around Russia, China, N. Korea, Iran, and the entire earth
What’s behind the current US proxy war with Russia in Ukraine and the rising tensions with N. Korea and China? It really comes down to this: the US economic power elite do not want a multi-polar world. It wants a uni-polar world with the US on top. It wants to maintain dominance – global economic and military unchallenged power. And it will do ANYTHING to maintain that dominance, including regime change, de-capitation, cause chaos, etc., and then repeat, repeat, repeat. That’s why Democrats and Republicans unite around pumping tens of billions of dollars into Ukraine and expanding the US military budget. Call your Senators and Representatives and demand they support efforts for a ceasefire and negotiations in Ukraine now and reduce the risk of nuclear war. See https://malu-aina.org/?p=8426 Senator Brian Schatz 808-523-2061, 202-224-3934, Senator Mazie Hirono 808-522-8970, 202-224-6361, Representative Kai Kahele 808-746-6220, 202-295-4906. Representative Ed Case, 808-650-6688, 202-225-2726. You can also call the DC Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 for any Representative or Senator. Let’s stand up, speak up, and work for peace – the common good of all.
