The one thing Republicans and Democrats agree on is increasing War Spending! In the debt deal before Congress, there is a spending cap on everything EXCEPT the “Golden Calf of Empire” – Military Spending! On May 24, the National Priorities Project at the Institute for Policy Studies released a report that found in 2022, out of a $1.8 trillion federal discretionary budget, the U.S. spent a staggering $1.1 trillion – or 62% – of that budget on militarism and war. Now with the spending cap on everything except for militarism before Congress, that war spending figure is likely to increase.
