Join the Malu ‘Aina Peace organizing meeting on Monday, June 26th from 6-8 PM at the Kea’au Community Center

Reminder –On the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month we have peace organizing meetings 6-8 PM at the Keaau Community Center
The Keaau Community Center is located behind the Keaau Police station and Health Clinic in Kea’au.  Sorry, No Zoom connection at this meeting.

Among items on the June 26th agenda

1. Discussion of Pohakuloa change of command set for 10AM on Wed. June 28th and overall strategy on the lease renewal, etc concerning PTA Present commander LTC Kevin Cronin to be replaced by new commander  LTC Timothy Alvarado.   See Jim’s OPEN letter to commanders here and on Jim Albertini’s Facebook page.  Please share widely.  Mahalo. https://malu-aina.org/?p=91

2.  Ongoing war in Ukraine  — Dam explosion and massive flooding in southeast Ukraine.  –who did it?  What’s next?  In my view there is a serious danger of a “False flag” — Ukraine blaming Russia for a major disaster at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear power plant to get NATO to dirtectly join the war against Russia which could escalate quickly to the use of nuclear weapons.

Ukrainian dam is destroyed; nuclear plant lives in a ‘grace period’

3.  Increasing tensions with Russia and China and risk of nuclear war. — British sent thousdands of DU weapons to Ukraine.  See the article https://consortiumnews.com/2023/05/02/using-poison-in-ukraines-depleted-hope-of-victory/?fbclid=IwAR1y7snfgclJ1vMvfE0NnoXzp_8mAXAL7-GRRcVFsjh_BWNQ2UqH2F3T-6E

See recent peace leaflets on the issues of increasing tensions with China and Russia at www.malu-aina.org

   4.  Connection between enormous military budget –62% of the federal discretionary budget goes to war and militarism.  while human needs go unmet in Hawaii and throughout the US.  Here in Hawaii –sweeps of houseless, lack of affordable housing, health care, treatment for drug addiction, enough food , etc.

5.  Bring other issues for discussion.

6.  Join the Friday Hilo Peace Vigil 3:30-5PM at the downtown Hilo Post Office.  It is more important than ever to stand up and speak up for peace not further war escalation.  Spread the word please.

Mahalo.
