Call for canceling the lease and seizure of Hawaiian lands by the US military at Pohakuloa. Stop the Bombing and all live-fire at Pohakuloa! Clean up the military toxic mess, and return the land to the Hawaiian people. Pohakuloa live-fire bombing area located in the dry, windy, center of Hawaii Island is a Lahaina firestorm in the making.

I am writing as your constituent to urgently ask that you call for a ceasefire to end the deadly violence unfolding right now in Gaza and become a cosponsor of H.Res 786, the Ceasefire Now resolution.

Since October 7, over 10,800 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes, including over 4,300 children. Countless more are trapped and buried under the rubble of destroyed buildings. The Israeli military’s indiscriminate bombing of the 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza has hit schools, hospitals, ambulances, and flattened entire neighborhoods. The scale of the catastrophe is overwhelming.

The Israeli military has also tightened its 16-year military blockade of Gaza, suffocating and starving the Palestinians who live there — over half of whom are children. Hospitals have run out of the power and fuel they need to save lives. The entire healthcare system has collapsed.

There is no military solution, and we cannot bomb our way to peace. I call on you, as my representative, to urgently demand a ceasefire to prevent the further loss of life, ensure the release of hostages and everyone arbitrarily detained, and to allow the entrance of life-saving humanitarian aid into Gaza.

The U.S. must focus on a political solution, de-escalation, and ceasefire. Not fuel violence by the Israeli military by supporting its attacks and sending more weapons. U.S. complicity in Israel’s occupation, blockade, and apartheid must end.

Pope Francis’ Prayer for Peace

Lord God of peace, hear our prayer!

We have tried so many times and over so many years to resolve our conflicts by our own powers and by the force of our arms. How many moments of hostility and darkness have we experienced; how much blood has been shed; how many lives have been shattered; how many hopes have been buried… But our efforts have been in vain.

Now, Lord, come to our aid! Grant us peace, teach us peace; guide our steps in the way of peace. Open our eyes and our hearts, and give us the courage to say: “Never again war!”; “With war everything is lost”. Instill in our hearts the courage to take concrete steps to achieve peace.

Lord, God of Abraham, God of the Prophets, God of Love, you created us and you call us to live as brothers and sisters. Give us the strength daily to be instruments of peace; enable us to see everyone who crosses our path as our brother or sister. Make us sensitive to the plea of our citizens who entreat us to turn our weapons of war into implements of peace, our trepidation into confident trust, and our quarreling into forgiveness.

Keep alive within us the flame of hope, so that with patience and perseverance we may opt for dialogue and reconciliation. In this way may peace triumph at last, and may the words “division”, “hatred” and “war” be banished from the heart of every man and woman. Lord, defuse the violence of our tongues and our hands. Renew our hearts and minds, so that the word which always brings us together will be “brother”, and our way of life will always be that of: Shalom, Peace, Salaam! Amen.

“Our thoughts turn every day to the very serious situation in Israel and Palestine. I am close to all those who suffer, Palestinians and Israelis. May the weapons be stopped: they will never lead to peace, and may the conflict not widen! Enough! Enough, brothers! Enough!”
