More Military Rubbish Coming to Hawaii

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

Waimea meeting Nov. 30th.  Hilo meeting Dec. 1st.  See below.  It appears we may have to take our own mic and sound system to have a public hearing  They appear to be planning NO PUBLIC TESTIMONY, AGAIN. Only science fair type display booths and a stenographer in the corner to take comments.  Insult to injury!

Resist the Hype!

Black Friday Sales &

The Winter of Discontent

The store ads all say “SALE, SALE, SALE!  The real meaning is BUY! BUY! BUY!  The ads are a commercialism lure to create “Wants” not “Needs.”  All the holiday hype is to get us to spend beyond our means with credit cards that charge high interest to make money for the Wall St. banks.

This holiday season, don’t buy the hype.  Buy nothing or buy local.  Support an economy that benefits the 99%, not the 1% of global corporate interests that suck labor and resources out of our local economies.

All over the world there is a “Winter of Discontent” — a dissatisfaction with our human condition.  The dissatisfaction covers many areas:  the widening gap between the super rich (1%) and the rest of humanity –the 99%; the ravenous appetite of corporate greed that appears to know no bounds; the influence and corruption of corporate money in government.  Elections and politicians are bought by the highest bidder.  We are in an unprecedented time of “Government For Sale.”

Add to this mess, endless wars for empire disguised as “war on terror” to keep us all in a state of fear and obedience to those in power.  The oil companies and the arms merchants have never seen more profitable times, and like things just as they are.  But what about those who have lost their homes, jobs, and savings?  What about cuts in education, health care, and social service for the poor and elderly? Overshadowing all of the above is the global climate crisis that threatens the very survival of the planet.

If the continuing global spread of radiation from the Fukushima nuclear plant meltdowns isn’t bad enough, the pre-war propaganda is building for an attack on Iran’s nuclear power plant by the U.S. and/or Israel with dire consequences for the entire world.

This Thanksgiving holiday weekend, and the holy season that follows, is a good time to take stock of what is really important in life.  Is life all about consumerism, competition, and profit or something deeper?  Philosophers and religious leaders tell us we are all in this together.  We are called to be compassionate to one another; to cooperate for the common good; to care for the earth and all its creatures; to make peace and work for justice.

This is the call of the “Arab Spring” that has spread to the “Occupy Wall St.” movement and that is building in our present “Winter of Discontent.”  See the excellent article “Time for Obama to Act to End Police-State Violence Against the Occupiers” at http://www.thiscantbehappening.net/node/913 Let us join hands to build a more just, peaceful, and liveable world for all. Future generations are depending on us. What we do, or don’t do now, matters!  Stand up and be counted!  Blessings of aloha to you and your ohana!

Thou Shall Not Covet …

Peace on Earth, Goodwill to All!

1. Mourn all victims of violence. 2. Reject war as a solution. 3. Defend civil liberties. 4. Oppose all discrimination, anti-Islamic, anti-Semitic, etc.
5. Seek peace through justice in Hawai`i and around the world.

Hydrogen buildup at Fukushima? What does it mean & why does it happen?

[6 1/2 mn. video]
TEPCO recently discovered hydrogen buildups within the containment buildings in Fukushima Units 1, 2 and 3. Could there be another explosion, and if so how? Fairewinds conducts a laboratory experiment to show that if oxygen is present with hydrogen in a nuclear power containment, a deflagration explosion might occur.

Reactor Designer Admits That Fukushima Is Now the China Syndrome

The China Syndrome is happening right now, according to Haruo Uehara, the man who designed Reactor 3 at Fukushima. He says that, since there has been no significant improvement since the earthquake and tsunami devastated the TEPCO nuclear plant on 11 March this year, there is no escaping the reality that hot fuel melted through the pressure and container vessels into the ground.

Uehara further described the seriousness of the situation, saying if it reaches an underground water source, then the water supply, the ground, and sea water will also be contaminated. Furthermore, if the underground water remains heated for long enough, a massive hydrovolcanic explosion could occur.

Hydrovolcanic is not a made-up word to give an impression of a big eruption involving water. It’s a geological term referencing particularly violent volcanic eruptions involving the mixture of water with magma. This is not a small, or even simply a local, concern. In an exceptionally active volcanic region, a hydrovolcanic explosion could have devastating and far-reaching effects.

Adding to the danger, he also said that radioactive debris has been spreading in the Pacific Ocean and that it had reached the Marshall Islands on 15 November 2011, which is much faster than anticipated. Therefore, all countries and islands in and around the Pacific are at risk from the flotsam of Fukushima.

The term, China Syndrome, comes from a 1979 hit movie in which the unthinkable—a nuclear meltdown—almost happens. Now, it appears that the unthinkable, something so terrifying that the movie stopped short of it, has actually happened.

Why isn’t this major news? Well, just take a look at the video just posted, Want Proof That Mainstream Media Is Controlled? Watch This! The powers-that-be do not want us to know. Therefore, since there hasn’t been any good news, we’re given no news.
