Re: STATUS of GMO Legislation:
Bill 113, Draft 2 (MW Bill) Prohibits Open Air Genetically Engineered Crops and Plants.
So the question is do you want this island to become one more GMO dominated island with increasing domination by multinational chemical corporations, or do we take advantage of the opportunity to be a model of non-GMO crops and seed production with an emphasis on eco-friendly ag practices and policies? Let us hear from you.

This is an aloha filled, peaceful, family friendly event. Bring your own sign or borrow one of ours and take part in a worldwide action to raise awareness about the dangers of fracking.
Mission Statement: Fracking for oil and gas is inherently unsafe and the harms of this industry cannot be fully mitigated by regulation. We reject the multi-million dollar public relations campaign by big oil and gas companies and urge our local, state, and national officials to reject fracking. We stand united as a global movement in calling on governmental officials at all levels to pursue a renewable energy future and not allow fracking or any of the associated infrastructure in our communities or any communities. We are communities fighting fracking, frac sand mining, pipelines, compressor stations, LNG terminals, exports of natural gas, coal seam gas, coal bed methane and more. Fracking is not part of our vision for a clean energy future and should be banned.

A peace view on the U.S. Government Shutdown
Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013Shut Down Wars
& the Surveillance State, NOT
Food Assistance, Economic Opportunity Programs, Housing, Parks, etc.
“Endless wars:America’s expanding military empire will continue to bleed the country dry at a rate of more than $15 billion a month (or $20 million an hour). The Pentagon spends more on war than all 50 states combined spend on health, education, welfare, and safety. Yet what most Americans fail to recognize is that these ongoing wars have little to do with keeping the country safe and everything to do with enriching the military industrial complex at taxpayer expense.” John Whitehead, attorney, author of Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State ,From NSA Spying & VIPR Sweeps to Domestic Drones: A Round-Up of the Police State Programs NOT Affected by Govt Shutdown
“As the parts of the government affected by the shutdown disproportionately impact economic opportunity programs for the working poor, historically marginalized communities are likely to the feel the effects of a shutdown acutely as time goes on” reports Imara Jones.
The working class will suffer from this government shutdown, but the drone bombing, Gitmo, various wars, and surveillance will continue– all the things the public would end in a real democracy, if they were given an opportunity to vote on it.
In short, the shutdown is great theater for the Democrats and Republicans, who beat their breast and cry out that the other is the great Satan, as the government continues, decade after decade, to do less for the American people and more for transnational corporations and transnational investors who don’t pay taxes or give a damn about the American people.
