Stand Up! Speak Out! Diplomacy not War!

Stand Up!  Speak Out!  Diplomacy not War!

I urge people everywhere to use every non-violent means possible to stand up and speak out against war .  Join the peace vigils in your communities  (Hilo 3:30-5PM Fridays at the downtown Post office), write Congress and the President, sign petitions, etc. etc. Every effort is important.

The situation between the U.S. and North Korea is extremely dangerous. Even if nuclear weapons are not used, any conventional war could result in the death of hundreds of thousands of people.  With nuclear weapons, the deaths could be in the millions.

Please let your voice be heard.  Mahalo.,

Diplomacy Not War!

The World on the Brink of Nuclear Disaster

President Trump’s latest threat toward North Korea to bring “fire, fury and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before,” is reckless and a blatant reference to a U.S. nuclear attack on Korea. Korea’s response: a threat to bomb a U.S. Air Base on Guam. In a time of increasing tension that risks the possibility of nuclear war by accident or design, what’s needed is not more threats and counter threats, but a tone of caution, dialogue and diplomacy. We need to reduce, not escalate tensions. It’s up to all of us to insure that reckless behavior doesn’t lead to a war that could kill millions in an instant.

To create an atmosphere for discussion, a logical first step would appear to be a halt by U.S./South Korea to large scale joint military exercises and a North Korea halt to any further missile or nuclear tests. China and Russia have both called for this reasonable action.

People need to put themselves in North Korea’s shoes. North Korea lost close to 30% of its population as a result of US bombings in the 1950s. That’s several million people. 78 cities and thousands of North Korean villages were destroyed by U.S. bombing over 3 years. http://www.globalresearch.ca/PrintArticle.php?articleId=22131 And North Korea saw what happened when Libya, under pressure from the U.S. abandoned it’s nuclear weapons program. The U.S. orchestrated an overthrow of the government of Muammar Gaddafi. Libya, once a prosperous country is in total chaos today. The same for Iraq. Remember the U.S. false claim of attacking and overthrowing Saddam Hussein because of his Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs). The fact is there were no Iraq WMDs. Saddam had abandoned them but was attacked and overthrown by the U.S anyway. No wonder North Korea feels threatened by the U.S. and doesn’t want to abandon its nuclear program. It believes it is a deterrent to being attacked and overthrown by the U.S.

The U.S. is the only nation in the world to ever use nuclear weapons in war. This week marks the 72nd anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan on Aug. 6 and 9, 1945. It is nothing but U.S. arrogance to say that North Korea must stop its missile tests while the U.S. continues its tests. The U.S. needs to lead the world to disarmament by example. And we the people must demand it.

No More Hiroshimas Ever Again!

  1. Mourn all victims of violence. 2. Reject war as a solution. 3. Defend civil liberties.
    4. Oppose all discrimination, anti-Islamic, anti-Semitic, anti-Hawaiian, etc.
    5. Seek peace through peaceful means and work for justice in Hawai`i and around the world.

Talk about a hog wash article on the Kennedy assassination

Monday, August 7th, 2017

Talk about a hog wash article on the Kennedy assassination.

More disinformation on the JFK murder.  It was the CIA, Secret service, FBI, Military-Industrial Complex that killed Kennedy with strong evidence pointing to fired CIA boss Allen Dulles as the ringleader. This article about recently released Kennedy assassination files is a modern effort to steer people away from the real culprits.  Read Jim Douglass’ book:  JFK and the Unthinkable: Why he died and why it matters.  Also David Talbot’s book:  The Devil’s Chess Board about Allen Dulles.  Ordinary people sense the truth:  It was an inside job!

3 big lies about North Korea

Lie #1: North Korea constantly threatens and provokes the United States
The truth: Every year, the United States carries out massive “Foal Eagle” and “Key Resolve” military exercises alongside South Korean forces that simulate the invasion of the North. Labelled “war games” by the corporate media, these drills are understood for what they are by North Korea (also known as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea or DPRK) — a menacing reminder that the United States could launch a war and destroy their country at any moment. This year, the U.S. military went even further and held a nuclear bombing drill, where a U.S. strategic bomber flew right up to the border between North and South Korea as practice for a possible nuclear attack on the North.
Unlike the United States, North Korea has never launched a war of aggression against any country. The United States does claim that North Korea invaded South Korea in 1950, five years after the division of the country at the end of World War II. This was a civil war inside of Korea similar to the civil war that was waged between North Vietnam and South Vietnam, which was also divided by “great powers” at the end of World War II. The U.S. military is by far the largest and most powerful in human history, but the North Korean military’s budget is smaller than the New York Police Department’s. The notion that the DPRK is threatening the superpower United States is outrageous.
Lie #2: North Korea is a “rogue state” led by a madman who clings to nuclear weapons and refuses to negotiate
The truth: The DPRK suspended its nuclear weapons program in the 1990s as a direct consequence of a negotiated agreement with the United States. The United States failed to live up to its side of the agreement to provide substitute energy sources to replace North Korea’s nuclear power program. The United States expected that the North Korean government would collapse following the implosion of its socialist allies in the USSR and elsewhere. The DPRK ultimately decided to leave the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) only after George W. Bush in January 2002 declared North Korea, Iran and Iraq an “Axis of Evil” while the United States prepared to carry out an invasion of Iraq — which it did in the next 15 months.

As Tensions Explode on Korean Peninsula, U.S. Peace Delegation Calls for Immediate Response to North Korea’s Offer to Freeze Its Nuclear Program

The Solidarity Peace Delegation, concluding their July 23-28 visit to South Korea, calls for immediate U.S.-South Korean action to de-escalate growing military tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

U.S. in relation to Global Military Spending

Friday, August 4th, 2017

This remarkable chart shows how U.S. defense spending dwarfs the rest of the world

And when you add the hidden U.S. military spending as noted in this week’s peace leaflet totaling $1.09 Trillion, the U.S. proportion to global military spending only increases.
