Come on Brothers & Sisters:

Stand Up & Protest!

What has happened to the spirit of nonviolent resistance? Where have all the justiceseekers and peacemakers gone? Have we been so beaten down that we no longer have the will to save ourselves and the planet? Are we so consumed by fear or with looking down at our cell phones that we are incapable of standing up for our rights and the rights of others? What are the forces that helped create a demoralized, passive, population?

These are serious questions that we need to answer. Bruce E. Levine is a practicing clinical psychologist who addresses some of these questions in his latest book is Get Up, Stand Up: Uniting Populists, Energizing the Defeated, and Battling the Corporate Elite.  You can read an article by Levine here: https://www.alternet.org/are-americans-broken-people-heres-why-weve-stopped-fighting-back-against-forces-oppression?src=newsletter1092898

Here in Hawaii we have RIMPAC 2018 coming up June 27th till August 2nd. Some 26 nations, 47 surface ships, five submarines, 18 national land forces, and more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are expected to participate in the biennial RIMPAC war games. This year, even Israel who has been massacring Palestinians, and threatening war on Iran is coming to Hawaii to practice its warmaking. Included in RIMPAC is air, land, and sea military live-fire. The 133,000-acre military Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) located in the center of Hawaii island, will be subjected to multi nation bombardment. PTA is known to be contaminated with radiation and a wide range of military toxins from 75 years of bombing and RIMPAC 2018 will add to the toxins here in our midst and resuspend Depleted Uranium (DU) oxide particles present at PTA. According to Dr. Lorrin Pang, MD with 24 years in the Army Medical Corps says inhaling DU oxide dust particles is the most deadly form of radiation. DU can not only cause various cancers, but it can cause genetic damage that can be passed on to future generations. DU has a half life of 4.5 billion years. The question is now being asked — does bombing a site known to be contaminated with DU constitute “human experimentation” that requires prior consent?

RIMPAC, the world’s largest international war exercise, is now organized out of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, based on Oahu at Camp H.M (“Howling Mad”) Smith, located in Halawa Heights above Aloha Stadium. The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command controls military activity in more than 60% of the earth’s surface.

Hawaiian activist, Ruth Aloua, says: “People in every district on the island can hear and feel the bombs drop on Pohakuloa…. Why is not the wider collective saying anything?”
