Vote Every Day! Resist!
Sandy, Global Warming,
Elections, & Beyond!
Mother nature brought the issue of extreme weather resulting from Global Warming front and center even though it has not been addressed by major media and candidates in the 2012 elections. Bad as Frankenstorm Sandy was, it could have been worse. Though there were problems at five nuclear power plants, core and nuclear fuel meltdowns were avoided with luck this time.
Regardless of election results at all levels of government, the real work of building a broad people’s movement for justice, peace, and aloha for mother earth needs to move forward with action. Action to make officials respond to the will of the people not special interests; action to stop the expanding wars, increasing drone strikes and the killing of civilians; action to rein in and prosecute Wall St. banksters and fraudsters; action to end warrantless spying, imprisonment without charge or trial, CIA Special Ops, and targeted assassinations. Justice demands that it’s time to share and spread the wealth, not concentrate it further in the hands of a few.
Committed citizen action can bring about policy changes for the common good no matter who is in power. Such action requires that we “vote” every day of our lives, not simply once every 2 or 4 years.
