Say NO to Prison Industrial Complex coming to Hawaii
Aloha Peace Ohana,
Your help is needed to prevent the Prison Industrial Complex from coming to Hawaii. Below is a copy of a letter I just sent o Hawaii State representatives who will be voting on SCR 120. Please send the representatives (email addresses below) a short note to say vote NO on SCR 120. No Prison Industrial Complex in Hawaii. Support Pu’uhonua as alternative to prison.
Mahalo.

Aloha Representatives, Please don't pass SCR 120 SD2 public/private prison partnership. Our organization supports Ohana Ho'opakele in its effort for Pu'uhonua -- first at the former Kulani Prison on the Big Island and then Pu'uhonua on all the islands. It's our best hope to save taxpayers money, heal individuals, families and our communities, reduce recidivism and produce long term positive change toward a more just society that presently has a disproportionate number of Native Hawaiians in prison. Bringing the for profit Prison Industrial Complex to Hawaii is a major step in the wrong direction. It turns the misery and injustice to Native Hawaiians into a commodity. Pu'uhonua is the way to go for the best interest of Native Hawaiians and all Hawaii's people. Mahalo for your consideration. Jim Albertini, president of Malu 'Aina
