Day of solidarity for Mauna Kea
I’m in Hilo for the Mauna Kea sign holding day of action. Hundreds at the Bayfront highway by the Wailoa bridge and at least a hundred more at the airport intersection. Amazing how this issue has activated people, especially the youth standing up for the sacred mountain and the Hawaii nation. The Governor today announced a 1 week halt to construction of TMT while people talk. If he didn’t take such action I suspect hundreds more would have been arrested this week since so many people are here in Hilo for the Merrie Monarch festival. There were sign holdings today in many other places on this island, on all the islands and internationally. In all, it’s a great day of solidarity and it continues to build.
This Sat. is the Merrie Monarch parade. An “Aloha ‘Aina” contingent will meet at 9AM at the Hilo Kamehameha statue. Come join. Bring positive signs for Mauna Kea, Pohakuloa, Aloha ‘Aina.
Mahalo.
