Navy Ship denied entry to Hilo Harbor

This ship USS Chung-Hoon is a guided missile warship coming to the Merrie Monarch Festival in Hilo. What’s merrie about a warship? In fact, it’s a reminder that a US warship — the USS Boston, entered Honolulu Harbor in January 1893 and landed troops to assist in the overthrow of Queen Liliuokalani and the Hawaii nation on behalf of greedy sugar business interests. For the Merrie Monarch Committee, or whoever invited the Navy to send a warship into Hilo for the Merrie Monarch festival, this defies historical logic. It would be like inviting the Klu Klux Klan to a civil rights rally. Go figgah! Or maybe it is history repeating itself. Perhaps the ship was going to land troops to assist in arresting Hawaiians protesting the desecration of Mauna Kea by the TMT construction taking place there.
