We lost a dear friend, peacemaker, and aloha ‘aina activist –Nelson Ho on Jan 2, 2024

Dear friend Nelson Ho died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at Hilo Hospital after a long illness.

Nelson was an inspiring activist with steadfast aloha ‘aina solidarity. He blessed us all! Together, let’s carry his spirit with us always.

I knew Nelson for more than 50 years and feel very blessed to have visited Nelson and his wife Jennifer at Hilo Hospital the afternoon before he passed.

New Year’s Resolutions

Our Joint Commitment

No More War! War Never Again!

Immediate Ceasefire and peace negotiations in all ongoing wars, including Israel – Hamas, Ukraine – Russia; etc.

Immediate international humanitarian aid to all those suffering from the effects of war.

Free all hostages and prisoners resulting from the wars.

No more weapons shipments to Israel and Ukraine. Let’s redirect US war funding (more than $9 TRILLION since 2001) toward meeting unmet human needs at home and abroad.

Locally, let’s work to stop the bombing and all military live-fire at Pohakuloa.

Cancel the military State leases and seizures of Hawaiian lands on all islands by executive orders issued by a US President and a Hawaii Governor.

Clean up the many military toxic sites on land and in the ocean at US federal expense. And do a much better job than was done on Kaho’olawe.

Israel needs to end its illegal occupation of Palestine and the US needs to end its illegal occupation of Hawaii. Jan 17, 2024, marks 131 years since the US illegal overthrow, and continued illegal occupation of the independent nation of Hawaii.

The two greatest threats to human civilization are man-made climate catastrophe and the increasing risk of global nuclear war. These need our serious attention along with all of the above and many more issues as well. We have a lot of work to do. Let’s deepen our commitment in 2024 – Kapu Aloha (Nonviolence) always!

Together, let’s help build a world of peace on a foundation of justice, and respect for aloha ‘aina – taking care of the earth for future generations! No More Hate! Peace Serves All! Mahalo!
