Hilo Merrill Lynch Bans Albertini

Monday, November 7th, 2011

Jim Albertini given Trespass Warning Form for trying to deliver a lei and petitions to Merrill Lynch Branch Manager, Art Miho.
1437 Kilauea Ave. Suite 205, Hilo, Hi 96720. Phone # 935-1136

Today’s 4-5:30 sign holding fronting Hilo’s Merrill Lynch office had a good turn out of about 50 people.  At 4:15, a four person delegation crossed the street with a lei in hand and copies of a petition with approximately 200 names.  The petition read:

We demand that Merrill Lynch remove it’s $55 Trillion in risky-bet derivatives from Bank of America FDIC tax payer insured accounts. It’s a scam to stick the tax payer for another Bailout if and when the risky-bet derivatives fail. We will not Bail Out Merrill Lynch or Bank of America again. NO MORE BANKSTER BAILOUTS!

We intended to give Merrill Lynch branch Manager, Art Miho, a lei as a goodwill gesture of aloha, to be clear there was no personal ill will against any employee of Merrill Lynch.  Our concerns are the bank policies that benefit the 1% at the expense of the 99%.

When we got to the 2nd floor office area of Merrill Lynch, we found the doors locked with the office lights all on and two security officers stationed outside the door.  We explained our purpose to security guards and rang the door bell but no one answered. We left the flower lei hanging on the door knob and slid the folder of petitions under the door.  As we turned to leave one of the security guards said he had orders to give me a letter.  The letter was entitled “Trespass Warning Form”  and had my name hand written in under the section (Name of Trespasser).  Under the section “Reason for Trespassing ” was hand written “No legitimate reason to be on the property.”  Below that, the form read: You are hereby notified that your presence is no longer desired at the property indicated below (Merrill Lynch).  Therefore, you are now prohibited from entering and/or returning onto this premises for a period of one (1) year from the date of issuance.  This notice applies even though you may be visiting at the invitation of a patron, guest or employee.  Failure to comply with this warning will result in your arrest and prosecution for criminal trespass; Sec. 708-814, H.R.S.

There is no date on the form and the signature of the issuer is illegible.

My suggestion is simple:  anyone who doesn’t think Merrill Lynch risky-bet derivatives should be put into FDIC tax payer insured accounts should pay Merrill Lynch a visit (or at least call 935-1136) and tell them so.  Let Merrill Lynch issue ban & bar letters to the entire Hilo community.  It’s time for the 99% to stand up to the 1% and be counted. —

Press release Nov. 4, 2011
Re: Petition to Hilo Merrill Lynch Branch Manager
further contact: Jim Albertini 966-7622, email ja@interpac.net

A petition will be delivered 4PM Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 by an ad hoc group of the Hilo “Occupy Wall St. ” gathering that has been conducting Monday sign holdings fronting the Hilo Merrill Lynch office on Kilauea Ave.  The petition demands “that Merrill Lynch remove it’s $55 Trillion in risky-bet derivatives from Bank of America FDIC tax payer insured accounts.”  The petition adds, “It’s a scam to stick the tax payer for another Bailout if and when the risky-bet derivatives fail. We will not Bail Out Merrill Lynch or Bank of America again. NO MORE BANKSTER BAILOUTS!”

Several attempts have been made to schedule an appointment with Merrill Lynch Hilo Branch Manager –Art Miho.  A delegation of ad hoc Wall St. protesters will deliver petitions along with a lei for Mr. Miho.  We want Mr. Miho to understand that it is Merrill Lynch, and its parent company, Bank of America, whose policies we oppose, not Mr. Miho personally.  We are committed to do what is pono and to do our best to always practice aloha in our efforts for justice and peace.

A copy of the petition is below. Anyone who would like their name added can email ja@interpac.net,  go to the “Occupy Hilo” Facebook page, or join the Monday Merrill Lynch sign holding 4-5:30PM fronting Merrill Lynch at 1437 Kilauea Ave. Hilo.  Mahalo.

U.S.A. on Spiritual Life Support!

U.S.A. in Need of Life Saving
Spiritual Enema!

Dr. Martin Luther King spoke about the consequences of military spending more than 40 years ago.  Military spending has grown enormously since then.  War and the Armaments Industry is the U.S. #1 product.  Instead of spending money on social uplift — schools, health care, infrastructure, putting people back to work and keeping people in their homes, the U.S. continues to wage war-after-war, and gives lucrative federal contracts to the arms makers for ever more deadly and exotic killing machines.  In return, these War Profiteers, along with the Wall Street Banks, use our federal tax dollars to line their own pockets and buy off politicians.  These War Profiteers are part of the .01% –one hundredth of one percent.  Here are but a few examples. Source: warcosts.com/1%

In 2010 Lockheed Martin paid its CEO Robert Stevens $21.89 million and spent
$12.7 million in lobbying politicians
In 2010 Northrop Grumman paid its CEO Wes Bush $22.84 million and spent
$15.7 million lobbying politicians
In 2010 Boeing paid its CEO James McNerney $19.4 million and spent
$17.98 million lobbying politicians

It’s time for a spiritual cleansing of the U.S. from the bloated military/industrial/congressional complex.

Get corporate money out of all elections!
Stop the revolving door of government/corporate lobbyists!
Stop bailing out the Big Banks and funding War Profiteers!
Fund Human Needs — education, housing, health care, and jobs for all!
