Dangers of Experience Pohakuloa Day May 12, 2022, and every day!

I just posted the message below on the PTA Facebook page
Jim Albertini
All who visit PTA need to be aware of the dangers of war dust. See https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/11/politics/military-exposure-burn-pits-biden-administration/index.html <https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/11/politics/military-exposure-burn-pits-biden-administration/index.html> is Depleted Uranium (DU) oxide particles. DU oxide involves alpha radiation and can be deadly when small particles are inhaled. It can enter the lymph system and lodge in various organs causing cancer. DU has a half-life of 4.5 Billion years. Our organization especially recommends that young children NOT enter PTA for Experience Pohakuloa events. DU oxide dust particles can be re-suspended in the air by ongoing live-fire training explosions at PTA and simply strong winds that are frequent in the Saddle region of Hawaii Island.

We first picked up high radiation readings on 2 monitors at Mauna Kea park on May 29, 2007, the day of the Saddle Rd. dedication with strong winds coming off PTA from the south blowing toward the park.   This was before the military officially acknowledged DU had been used at PTA after years of lying and denying its use.

Must watch 24 minute video on Military Red Hill water pollution

Thursday, May 5th, 2022
Must watch 24 min. Red Hill video on military pollution of drinking water by VICE News based in New York. Here’s the link. Please share widely.
The whole Red Hill facility on Oahu, which generally holds about 180 million gallons of fuel, sits just 100 feet above a groundwater aquifer that supplies 77% of the island’s total water, according to the Department of Health.
Here on Hawaii Island, we are all downhill, downwind, and downstream of the Pohakuloa TOXIC Area (PTA). I trust you are aware that Pohakuloa spends $2 million a year hauling water to PTA. But in 2013 they drilled 2 water wells and hit water at shallow depths — 700 and 1200 feet below the surface, but they are still not using the water. WHY? What’s in the water?
I’m trying to pry info out on the water. So far all I got is 1 page of fluff from the military. I think there is a serious water potential problem from PTA, not only for PTA wells but possibly the entire island. But probably greater pollution is what’s blowing in the wind from all the toxins used at PTA and re-suspended by every explosion there.
Join the effort to cancel the lease, or at least not renew the lease of State lands at PTA. Submit comments on this by June 7th as part of the PTA EIS process.
PTA needs to be shut down, the bombing stopped, and the land cleaned up and returned to the Hawaiian people. For ways to comment on the record for PTA lease see https://malu-aina.org/?p=8003 Cancel PTA Lease Now!

The Most Dangerous Time in Human History! Moving Closer to Omnicide!

The Most Dangerous Time in Human History!

Moving Closer to Omnicide!

cloud

The definition of omnicide is the destruction of all life, or all human life, on the planet. As our understanding grows, so does the horror. Instead of moving toward a ceasefire in Ukraine acceptable to all sides, more and more weapons are being poured into Ukraine. More death and destruction are the results. What we are now facing is the risk of escalation to the use of nuclear weapons between Russia, the US, and NATO, resulting in the obliteration of all humans and all living species on earth. The US and Russia possess 90% of the world’s nuclear arsenal, enough firepower to destroy the world many times over. US nuclear weapons are based in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and Turkey, countries all part of NATO. Britain and France have their own nuclear weapons. The remaining nuclear powers are China, Israel, India, Pakistan, and North Korea.

A ceasefire is desperately needed before further war escalation. Dialogue needs to find common ground for peace. Goodwill diplomacy is urgently needed if the world is to survive and prevent a WWIII nuclear apocalypse. This year’s US military budget is over $800 Billion. That’s more than 13 times the Russian military annual budget of $60 Billion. On top of that, the US is pumping tens of Billions of dollars of additional weapons into Ukraine. More weapons will not bring peace. Violence begets violence. When will we ever learn?

Peace needs to be built on a foundation of justice. Justice for all. In all that we do, the means that we use must be in line with the ends that we seek. Martin Luther King, the apostle of nonviolence said, the means and ends must cohere. The world cannot bomb its way to peace. In fact, to prevent omnicide, the world’s 9 nuclear-armed countries better soon follow what is now international law. The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), otherwise known as the Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty, entered into force on Jan. 22, 2021. That means all nuclear weapons are now illegal, and that any country, including the US, that possesses nuclear weapons is officially a rogue outlaw state.

Humanity must make the abolition of nuclear weapons and war itself the highest priority. Only then can we harness and redirect our creative energy to solve the climate crisis, meet other human needs, and live responsibly on this earth. Recently, our faithful Hilo peace vigil participant, Margaret Furukawa, celebrated her 89 birthday and donated a new sign with words of wisdom to our vigil. It reads —

Peace is a Victory for ALL Sides! Peace Heals!

1. Mourn all victims of violence. 2. Reject violence & war as solutions. 3. Defend civil liberties.
4. Oppose all discrimination, anti-Islamic, anti-Semitic, anti-Hawaiian, anti-Black, anti-Asian, etc.
5. Seek peace through peaceful means and work for justice in Hawai`i and around the world.
