Pohakuloa fire danger: Most of the Big Island is ABNORMALLY DRY!

Pohakuloa fire danger: Most of the Big Island is ABNORMALLY DRY! including the center of Hawaii Island where the military Pohakuloa Toxic Area (PTA) is located

The Environmental Impact Statement on the military State lease of 23,000 acres of the 133,000-acre Pohakukoa Toxic Area (PTA) notes that since 1975, bombing and shelling at Pohakuloa started 892 fires at Pohakuloa, including burning more than 17,000 acres off the base destroying endangered species habitat.

Stop Bombing Pohakuloa before bombing and shelling starts a Big Island “Lahaina” or “Los Angeles” firestorm.  Pohakuloa is zoned A CONSERVATION DISTRICT — the highest protected land status.  Bombing and shelling are not compatible land uses for a conservation district.  It’s a no-brainer No new lease.  Stop the bombing and shelling, clean up the toxic mess from 80 years of abuse, and return the land to the Hawaiian people.
