     RIMPAC (Rim of the Pacific) is the worldʻs largest international maritime exercise, held biannually since the early 1970s. Approximately 29 nations, 40 surface ships, 3 submarines, 14 national land forces, over 150 aircraft and more than 25,000 personnel will participate in the RIMPAC 2024 exercise scheduled June 26 to Aug. 2, in and around the Hawaiian Islands. bigislandnow.com

     Forces from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tonga, the United Kingdom and the United States will participate in RIMPAC 2024.

     Specific military details for RIMPAC 2024 have not been released, but RIMPAC usually involves sinking of ships (and harm to marine life) by bombing and shelling in Hawaiian waters, onshore military beach assault landings, bombing, shelling, and troop training at the Pohakuloa Training Area on Hawaii Island and possibly other areas, as well as human trafficking with military troops entering tourist areas.

The Sad 2024 US Empire

     Both Biden and Trump Support US Military Corporate Global Domination disguised as campaigns for “freedom & democracy.” In truth, both are Big US Military Industrial Complex Supporters just like most Democrats and Republicans in Congress who vote Billions for weapons and wars against Russia, China, and Israel’s war against Palestine! Biden and Trump both support Israel’s war though Trump is more blatant – Trump urges Israel to “Finish Up” its Gaza offensive – ”You’ve got to finish the problem.”

     In these very dangerous times, I am reminded of the prayer for peace by the late Trappist Monk Thomas Merton, who was an inspiration to many of us who stood against the US war in Vietnam, Merton said: “When I pray for peace, I pray not only that the enemies of my own country may cease to want war, but above all that my country will cease to do the things that make war inevitable.”

     I pray that all of our eyes be opened to see the truth and take action for peace now! Future generations are counting on us to prevent extinction through climate disaster and nuclear war. In a hungry world, the priority is clear – Food, not Bombs!

Peace is a Victory for All! No More Weapons & Wars!
